Holm, Janey

Producer, Writer

My name is Janey and I will be graduating Summer 2020 with a double major in Art & Design: Games and Playable Media(B.A.) and Philosophy(B.A.) from UC Santa Cruz. For BOOmates I worked as a producer and writer. It has been an absolute joy working on this team and every one of my teammates impresses me every day. I have learned so much managing this 13 person team both in-person and remote while also juggling other large projects. Kuang, Gasing

Sound Designer (SFX)

My name is Gasing (Gah-Sing). I am a student at UC Santa Cruz graduating with a BA in Art and Design: Games & Playable Media in Spring 2020. I was the SFX Designer of BOOmates. Sound has always been a deeply rooted part of my life, as far back as taking piano lessons as a child, to going through all of the middle and high school orchestra/marching band as a percussionist. As I continue to explore the different avenues of Game Design to find my place in the field, I hope to be  able to create my own games for self-expression, influenced from simple Flash games on the internet to more impactful works such as thatgamecompany’s Journey. Working with this team has been such an eye-opening and learning experience. I hope to continue learning and developing throughout future endeavors.

Visual Effects Artist, Web Designer

Hello! My name is Steven and I will be graduating with a BA degree in Art & Design: Games and Playable Media in June 2020. I’m the visual effect artist as well as the web designer for BOOmates. King, Mia

Sound Designer (BGM)

Hello! My name is Mia and I am a student at UC Santa Cruz graduating Spring of 2020 with a BS in Computer Science: Computer Game Design. For BOOmates I was a sound designer with my focus on composing BGM.  As someone who is both a musician and a programmer, BOOmates has given me the opportunity to improve my skills in composition, audio editing and design while keeping the programming aspect in mind. I have enjoyed every minute composing and working with this team, it has allowed me to meet so many great individuals and improve upon my skills. Kanehl, Aaron

Gameplay Programmer

My name is Aaron Kanehl, and I am a Computer Science Game Design major. I worked as a gameplay programmer on Boomates, and primarily was focused on the Game Feel of the ghosts, including movement and abilities. I also was focused on developing the tutorial that showed how to play the game. In my free time I really enjoy playing games with my friends and skateboarding. In my personal development, I have developed a series I like to call Dark Clouds, which is a set of small game experiences sourced on poetry that I have written.

Gameplay Programmer

Hi! I’m Jordan, a recent graduate of the UCSC Computer Science: Computer Game Design department. I was the fourth member of the programming team, working primarily with Github and Unity issues and implementing UI elements. I also made the BOOmates trailer! Art Director, Concept Artist (Character)

Yo, I’m Ari. I’m graduating UC Santa Cruz with a BA in Art & Design: Games and Playable Media. For BOOmates, I was the art director and concept artist for character designs. It’s been a blast working with a group of amazing and talented game designers for the past year and without them, I wouldn’t be able to just be the dumb art kid that just wants to draw cool stuff. Zhou, Enxuan 

Gameplay Progammer

Hello, My name is Enxuan Zhou and I’m a computer science: Game Design major and CS minor student at UCSC. In Boomates I work as a gameplay programmer and focus on making gaming loop using Unity and C#. I also have programming experience in python, C++, Java, and javascript. I’m also a quick learner on programming knowledge and love to learn new programming techniques. I start programming in high school and made my first game using phaser on my senior high school year, and I start interesting in gaming programing and learned many skills in this field. In the future, I won’t keep working on game development and improve my programming skills to a greater field.

Xie, Wenbo

3D Designer & Animator (Character)

I am Wenbo Xie,  a student at UC Santa Cruz graduating with a BA degree in Art & Design: Games and Playable Media in June 2020. I am going to pursue a Master’s degree in Serious Game in UCSC starting fall 2020. For BOOMates, I worked on 3D characters modeling and animating. It has been a really great experience to work with this team under the situation of COVID-19 and I have improved so much on my 3D skills during this process. All those relevant experiences would definitely help me a lot through my future career path.

Liu, Guanchen

Gameplay Programmer

Hello! My name is Guanchen and I will be graduating in 2020 with B.S Computer Science: Game Design major from University of California, Santa Cruz.  I am also an upcoming graduate student in the UCSC M.S Game & Playable Media program. For Boomates, I’m a Gameplay Programmer who worked with Unity and C# language. I love programming, especially programming for video games since I learned the log language when I was still a kid. Until now, I’ve been working on multiple game engines and frameworks with different programming languages for 3 years. As I look toward the future, I’ll keep on learning and improving both my engineering skill and production management.

I’m currently a student at UC Santa Cruz, graduating with a BA in Art & Design: Games and Playable Media in the spring of 2021. For BOOmates, I was responsible for concepting all of our environmental assets and designing our UI. It has been a truly rewarding experience working with this talented team, and I have learned so much about the process of game design that I will undoubtedly carry with me on my future career path.

Hey! Eric here. I am the 3D Environment Designer of BOOmates. I am set for graduation in 2020 with a B.A. degree in Art & Design: Games and Playable Media. In this journey, I was able to apply my technical skills to this creative project. I enjoyed collaborating with my fellow 3D designers.
